Brief History: Persephone is the daughter of gentle Demeter, Goddess of the Harvest and Zeus, Ruler of the Gods. A beautiful girl, in both spirit and physicality, Persephone was very close with her mother Demeter. Though Demeter could sometimes be overbaringly protective, they loved eachother like a perfect match of Mother and Daughter. They did everything together, and shared lifes spledors.
Persephones beauty in the end would not come fully to her advantage. It caught the eye of her Uncle, and Lord of the Underworld Hades. One day while Persephone was left to collect wild flowers alon, the grounds opened and Hades swept her away. Kidnapping her and bringing her with him to the underworld in a Golden Chariot. When she arrived in the Underworld she gave much protest against him. Wishes to return to her mother, wishing to be rid of him. But as time passed Persephone began to grow fond of the cold God, and in time she even began to Love him.
Demeter was sick with grief at the disappearenced of her daughter, and turning from the world she went in search. Going from every bit of land on Earth, during these times the world grew Harsh and cold, and it began to perish. Every mortal suffered, as crops died and people starved. Helios (the great sun) and Zeus were the only two whom knew what happened to Persephone, they were the only ones who say. Finally knowing that the earth could no longer bare it, Zeus summoned Hermes to put an end to it. Hermes went to Hades and began a bargining. But not after telling Demeter who was enraged and angry and sorrowful. An agreement was drawn, Hades would return Persephone to the world above and to her mother for Half-a-Year, than she was to return to him. It was settled.
But before she was set free, he persuaded her to eat some of the seeds of the Pomergrant fruit. She did eat some, and was bonded to the Underworld and to Hades. During the time of her daughters Absence, Demeter grows sad and angry, thus letting crops die once more and chills to set it. This time was known to be Winter, and during the time her Daughter would return together they flourished the lands with fresh growth and flowers and brought upon Spring.
Personality: Persephone is a compassionate yet proud Goddess. She is kindly and gentle in manner, but unlike her mother can grow a bit of a temper sometimes. She has always longed for more than the life her mother gave her, curious of every aspect, the light and the dark. And so when Hades removed her from the light into the dark, she began transfixed with both worlds. She sometimes meddles in Mortal afairs when she feels it is right, but often tries to stay away as most Gods and Goddesses do. Persephone enjoys her time as Queen of the Underworld, and takes pride in making sure that all within the Realm is proper. She tries to help her husband any way she can assist him, but does not meddle where she cannot help. Thus giving him much space as well. Unlike most of the Gods and Goddesses relationship (such as Zeus and Hera's) Persephone and Hades have a rather peaceful marriage. Two opposites that make a complete whole. She loves Hades very deeply and respects him above all others, perhaps including her mother and even father. But only she knows that for sure.
He Who is Adonis: Adonis is a beautiful child, so Beautiful that when Aphrodite took him, she was transfixed and handed him to Persephone to shield him away. But Persephone fell in love with the young mortals beauty, and thus refused to give him back to Aphrodite. Instead she wished to keep him with her, as her adoptive son. But Aphrodite became angry at this and to settle their dispute, Zeus made a compromising. He was to spend one-third of the year with Persephone, one-third with Aphrodite and one-third where he wished. Though he often spent his share with Aphrodite. This went on as so until in his early adulthood he was killed by a wild boar.
