The price of wisdom is often sorrow and disillusionment in equal measure to that which is gained; warfare always implies the ignominy of defeat at the same moment it promises glorious victory. Loki, on the other hand, is the coin which is flipped and lands on its edge. Even when it's perfectly evident from the outset that Loki is the author of the Gods troubles, he's still the one they’d depended upon to set matters to rights. So it was only fitting that, whether he liked it or not, he found himself in the middle a situation here he could wish his way out of. Even with his connection to fire and magic it gave him no power over the fate he was dealt after the death of Baldur.
It was humiliating to be in this state. With a poisonous snake above his head, a boulder chained between his shoulder blades, one at his loins and a third strapped to his knees. If it were not for Sigyn, the poison would surely have tormented him into madness… if he were not there already; but to now have the Greek God of War taunting him?! His face twisted as he heard the words. A drop of poison splashed over the bowl as Ares slapped Sigyn on the shoulders. “You’re doing a bang up job there lady!” Loki twisted in pain and the earth rumbled. “Do we have a deal?” he inquired eyeing the wings hungrily.

His legs buckled as the earth shook, but soon enough it passed and he was able to regain his posture. He tossed the wings into the dirt before the massive boulder chained to the Norse God’s knees. “Oh we have a deal alright, except for one thing. I’ll not lay down my sword until your end of the bargain is complete.” It didn’t take Loki long to decide. It was a fair enough deal to have his freedom, but he wanted more power over the Gods who had punished him. He wanted to smite them down with the same callousness that he was shown after his infallible servitude to fix the chaos.
“Agreed; now set me free so I can give you back what the fates have stolen from you.” Ares didn’t hesitate. In a matter of seconds his blade sang though the air cutting the poisonous snake in twain. The halves hit the cave floor, incinerating to ash from the heat of his blade.
Powerful strides maneuvered him forward and he drew up the discarded wings, setting them onto the boulder resting at Loki’s shoulders. The cave walls were awash with red and gold light as the powers of love and compassion worked into the bonds that held him. The offering was enough; His first born son, what he represented, and the death of the serpent. The stones cracked, and the chains fell loose yet unbroken. Loki was freed. “And now, for a little insurance that you will not double cross me…” Ares drew in breath and screamed the name of his sister, willing her to hear his call. “DISCORD!”

Discord had just had her head impounded, at least she felt that way. Persephone just made her insane with rage, all the time. ALL THE DAMN TIME.
She was walking through a random town in Greece, before she heard it ring through her ears. Ares' voice boomed as she stopped. "Alright, Alright."
Growling with some frustration, Discord disappeared into another array of flashes of fire. Her orbs red an angry. Her arms crossed.
Eyeing her twin brother, eyes narrowed slighty as a chill entered her body-they were no longer in Greece. "What in tartarus are we doing in Asguardian lands?" Her eyes glanced around.
She spotted Loki, her eyes downcast for a moment before she turned to Ares. "What?"

Constant struggles against a cord that would not break, when his strength that been enough to snap mere metal ones. A low growl rumbled in his throat as once more muscles pulled against the restraints. The gods had tricked him and he was locked away and hidden along with his father for many years. He was like his father in ways and then not. It was dark and he was close by his father Loki though shadow hid most of his massive black form as the gigantic wolf he was.
Nose took in the smells and then something changed in the air another God. Not one of their own…Greek. Black lips curled bearing sharp fangs, hearing Ares taunting words. “ The hand of another God of War sounds tasty right now.” Came his low grumbled voice as he lunged forwards snapping his jaws shut, while the magical thread tightened around the fur of his throat.
But this God wasn’t hear for more punishment as those here, sentencing both father and monster son to such an eternity. Still gold eyes watched pulling against the threading as it cut in, like so many other times. There was a deal being made between the two But word had been heard on the wind Odin was dead, the wolf wouldn’t have his revenge against the king, others would pay.

Despite his reputation, Loki sported a pair of eyes that when he wanted could be perceived as very dreamy. For half a second that was what he exchanged with his newest ally’s twin. She was intoxicating if not elusive, her frame agile and he imagined quite limber. Oh the things he imagined she was capable in the bedchamber. For those few lingering moments his mind was mentally playing out what he could do to her to make a lasting impression of which he’d become the new paradigm when she sought out a lover for her bed. But reluctantly his attention was drawn away for other matters.
“What about the release of my son, did you forget that part of the bargain Ares,”
no longer humbled by the restrains that held him Loki stood seemingly unaffected, his figure dressed in his usual attire of charcoal black. The bruises were gone, his skin unblemished and whole, even his hair shined bright, as if sunlight had been captured in the strands and has set the wild hairstyle a glow. As an after thought he turned to Sigyn. “Go and make ready my things. I’ll join you for the ritual as soon as I’m finished here.”

Ares took note of the way Loki practically had his mental tongue down Discord’s throat. This was something he didn’t expect, though it was yet another piece of leverage in is grand scheme. Gears were working overtime as he realized this might have been the vantage point that he’d been waiting for. “No my friend, I haven’t forgotten the complexity of our bargain, but if we’re to become allies I think that our proverbial scale is about even at the moment. So what say you make good on your end and I’ll finish what I came here to do, as we agreed.”
The tall dark-haired God gestured to his twin, “This is Discord, my sister. I’m sure once we begin to pull together this little brotherhood of like minds that you and she will be working very closely together. However,” he said turning to Discord, “I did not call you here for crumpets and tea. I have a job for you… something that I need you do to ensure our safety until our plan can come to fruition.”

Discord felt eyes slowly stripping her of her clothing mentally. She shot a glance at Loki, eyes ablaze-however there was something behind them, perhaps an equal ammount of lust. Who knew.
Then she heard the feral growl of the beast behind Loki-her own growl formed in her throat as she stared the beast down. "Hush your tongue less you want it taken from you dog-child." Her eyes stared the creature over. "You will be free in a moment, yet if you harm one hair on my brother's body... I will not faulter to kill you with my bare hands." Her voice seemed as feral as Fenrir's as she stared at him... however she smiled, always having an afliction for animals. Eyes quickly glanced to Loki-"Your child seems to fit with the likes of mine..." her mind flew back to Ate for a moment, shaking her head before turning to her brother.
"Oh, and what is this scheme of yours..." a wicked smile played upon the tender deep colored lips. "Do I get to hurt someone?" Eyes narrowed some in amusement as she thought of screams playing in her head. A crack in her neck and the grin continued to play upon her lips. "Tell me then, dear brother..." an eye turned to Loki-perhaps she would get to play with him.

He knew that look on her face, it was the look he often had when it was time for war. But alas this task he had in mind was something she might not take a fancy toward. But it had to be done, for all their sakes. “You said it yourself, that war was deplorable at best. I’m nothing without the woman forged in battle, even if she had rejected my affections. In exchange for her resurrection, I’m offering you a war unlike any you’ve ever imagined."
Ares was posturing now, striding to and fro as he explained. “All I ask is that you safeguard our lives by capturing and locking away the wife of our uncle Hades. With his attentions drawn to seeking her out we can move about unrestricted with the threat of death and oblivion.”

Eyes rolled annoyed at the mention of the Damned Xena once more. "You and your love of the g'damn warrior... Xena has put you through nothing but heartache, and for a god with almost no heart... this is quite painful to watch my brother go through..." She hissed through clenched teeth.
Then he told her about the plan to capture Persephone. "I'll kill her if I see her again..." she hissed softly... eyes rolling. "For the past few hours I have been standing with her next to me... complaining about my treatment to your bastard son Evander..." She took a deep breath.
Crossing her arms, she eyed him solemly... "And what do I get in return-I shant hurt my favorite uncle's wife... our half sister... nor would I hurt her for the fact that Demeter would go utterly insane... how would you expect me to go about this? AND how would you have me accomplish this without killing her AND your beloved warrior princess?" Her eyes were fire upon his skin, and she knew this-her body inches from her brother's as she had paced to his side.

Ares’ eyes brightened as his sister began to grate on his patience. How dare she object! Quickly his strides brought him closer to the bondage-clad Goddess. A strong grip was made on the shoulder strap of her armor, and he tightened his bicep drawing her close to him. “If it weren’t for Xena and her whelp Gabrielle you wouldn’t even be here to complain. That mangy poet didn’t just resurrect Xena when she burned the fates’ tapestry; she brought back you and your spoiled little Strife! So don’t get your chain mail in a twist over this Discord. That can EASILY change.”
He released her, his throat growling wickedly. “Hind's blood, it’s should do the trick if you dip your arrow tips into it. Strike her down and then bring her back here to Asgard. Yes, I fear it might be a long while before mankind sees the warmth of spring this year.” Lips pursed as he took in her request for something in return. “A joining of households might prove the best prize of all for you dear sister, if I could be so bold as to offer your hand to our new ally…”

Her neck was heated by his words. Hissing at his grip, eyes of fire stared towards her brother in dire hate. "Leave my son out of this..." she sneared, pushing her brother away with just as much brute force as he applied to her. "If it weren't for you, he wouldn't try so damned hard. You were the one that told me to keep his damned father a secret so it wouldn't weaken your 'brood'." She quirped. "And face it, you needed me alive just as much as I wanted to live."
Pulling her arm free she turned, "And where do you suppose we get this hinds blood? It is bad enough there is just a few in the world... but to get the blood on my arrow tip? That will be YOUR job, dear. brother." She spoke in heated words.
Then she stopped. A joining of households? Stepping back, she took in a breath, eyeing her brother then Loki. Blinking slightly she crossed her arms. "Marriage?"

Loki was leaning against the cave’s inner wall as he watched this family dispute. On his lips was a chagrin smirk, he was clearly enjoying the friction between the siblings. With his arms folded behind his head and his feet crossed at the ankle he was resting with perfect ease and contentment at the chaos he’d already stirred. Oh how he was going to enjoy this new camaraderie. In the end of course the spoils would all go to him; after years of capture and humiliation it was only fair. At the back and forth about Hind’s blood and the how and whys he rolled his eyes pushing off the wall.
Stooping he grabbed up the bowl of poison that had been held over his head for so many years. It was still brimmed to the top. “Hind’s blood is nothing by comparison to what this is capable. If she were struck with an arrow dipped into this, I don’t doubt that Zeus himself wouldn’t be hard pressed wake her.” His other hand came forth as he caught Discord’s, “And as for the proposal of marriage, I’d be honored.” His devilish grin returned as he winked to the beautiful Goddess. Standing straight Loki tilted his head to Ares. “Well...” He forced a cough. “I think it’s time we get started. Discord it’s been a pleasure…” He purred kissing the knuckle between her middle and ring fingers before releasing her hand.

Eyeing the poison in which was held within the bowl, and what her husband-to-be said... her eyes narrowed. God what she wouldn't do to kill Persephone. "Mmm... perhaps this poison will do the trick... " she whispered to herself-and perhaps to Loki as she felt his hand grab hers.
Taking a gulp, she eyed him... the trickster holding her hand in a form of proposal. Her grin appeared upon her lips, eyeing his form as he bent over. What I wouldn't do to get him into the bedchamber and show him what real mischief is... Her thoughts came to herself as she smiled once more.
"Polite and charming-mischeivious little devil." She whispered, bending slowly and speaking into his ear in a breathy tone. Her tongue seemed to slip out of her mouth like that of a snakes as she tasted her future husband's ear. "Mmm..." she quelled softly to herself before eyeing him as he said his goodbyes.
"Goodbye, Loki..." eyes shot towards her brother, "And as for you Ares... I will see you soon."

The moments happened quickly, and her brothers temper was raging. She could see it in his eyes. But there was more to this story. Something that went deeper. A wicked plot. What other cause would he have to cut the wings off his son? Lips pursed as she moved to say more. Jagged fist cut her off. After all he was the God of War. But all was fair in love and war. Or was it? Lashes fluttered and in and instant there was darkness. She could feel the cold of the tiles underneath her.
Noise roused her, the distinct smell of blood shed. Cupid. Her darling and beloved son. With a moment of pain lips parted, as tongue moved against split flesh. Damn, Ares. Lids opened as the Temple of Love came back into focused, there was a wetness to the floor around her, and arms wrapped about her. “Oh my son, my child…” Head felt as if it were spinning as she lifted herself, fingertips touching the blood flowing against the ground. Gently tips of slender digits ran against her child’s cheek to the nape of his neck. Tears threatened her blue eyes. Ares would pay for this. Pressing her forehead against her sons she slowly rose.
This would be taken into her own hands. Though she could have brought it up to Zeus, no, she would teach him. Aphrodite was a woman capable of many things. And all knew to well. Love could be heaven on Earth. Or it could be as painful and dark as the bottom most pits of the Underworld. And she was about to show why, Love was one of the strongest forces one could deal with…
Things were coming to life even as the once fallen God of chaos ascended the stairs of his long deserted stronghold. As Loki passed down the hallways toward the inner antechamber, torches lit of their own accord, lighting the cobwebbed walls. As the light slowly stretched over the tapestries, and alcoves they too shimmered with a life of their own, accented here and there with lackluster glints that begged for a closer inspection. Everything here seemed organic, glossy, and disturbingly beautiful in its own way. The Norse God had been spawned anew.
A guttural bellow roared from his teeth clenched jaw as he stretched with arms wide. The torches flashed brighter, and his voice echoed throughout the stronghold. “He-e-e-e-re's Loki!” he grinned manically as he entered the throne room. “That’s right you mother fuckers! I’m back! And I am good - and GOD-DAMNED ready - for some FUN!” Loki threw out a punch to an invisible target as he grunted a satisfied growl. He rounded the large stone altar bending to the stolen book, and lifting pen to paper as he began to write.
~
Several hours later the God was still bent to paper. Ares was bored beyond words, his patience running dangerously thin. “Is this going to take much-" “Shut up!” Loki screamed, tossing the spare ink jar in the God of War’s direction. Ares sneered in disgust as the viscous ink splattered across his leather clad leg. “I’m JUST wondering if we could speed this up a little…” Ares complained, wiping angrily at the stain. Loki paused, lifting the pen. “If you’re in such a hurry you could find me a reference picture.”
Ares’ face lit up momentarily as his strong hand reached into his vest. He fingered a hand-drawn image of his muse. “ I have this one…” Then quickly he shifted gears as he thought better of showing a scantily-clad illustration to the Norseman. “You know what, never mind.” He sighed rolling his eyes and replacing the paper. “I think you’re doing okay.”
