‘Easy… careful there Auto… no need to rush…’ Gloved fingers work the intricate thieving tools as he kneels before the massive chest. The room is darkened, only illuminated by the glow of the moon. He is wearing a deep green tunic under a dark hooded cloak. These pieces were chosen because they made him practically disappear in any surroundings, woods or city. His teeth bore and his eyes winced, as the thieves’ pick slipped a notch. He knows this is do or die now. Inside the lock is a thread, trigger to a poison dart which he guesses is aimed for his heart.
Auto holds his breath as his gloved fingers twist the thin shaft of metal. Behind him he hears the shuffle of feet. Someone coughs. His eyes go wide, and a bead of sweat rolls down his temple. ‘Ok… no pressure.. no big deal… you just have to step up the pace…’ he reassured himself. Finally he felt the triggered trap release and the tumblers roll over. He’d succeeded! A triumphant grin works over his handsome face as he lifts the chest open. Just then the door behind him starts to creak. The thief withdraws back against the wall, vanishing in the shadows as he waits and watches.

The weeping of the king in her lap made her do little but hold back a smile. She pets his slick white hair, eyed the snow capped man and whispered deviance. "It’s all, their fault… you must retaliate and get your revenge." He slowly sat up and whipped the tears from his eyes that had fallen for his lost son. "Why…" he whispered before standing and marching off towards the guardsmen and the army he had in store for his enemy. Smirking for a bit, her eyes suddenly turned to stare at… nothing. Quickly her body disappeared in a flash of light that resembled flames that creep up her body. Appearing in the realm between mortal eyes and immortal eyes, she watched the thief do what he does best. Smirking slightly in her invisible form, she turned to see the guards pass. Auto's response was just that of a thief. My, she enjoyed this thief, very much. "Continue…" she whispered into his ear, eyeing the box which contained something priceless.

The shadows of twin legs appear before the lit crack at the base of the door, but pause. “Aye am just saying I thought I ‘eard something.” “Don’t be a fool, if anyone was brazen enough to break into this place ‘ed has ta deal wit us if he wanted to leave right?” “What if he scaled the outer wall?” “Are you mad? No one would be that brazen…”
Auto listened to this idiotic banter his lips curling into a smile. Yes it was true… this was only adding to his already swollen ego… Who indeed but the self proclaimed King of Thieves? He did not hear the whisper, not see the goddess, and once the door re-settled closed he stepped forward again.
With a whisper of fabric on the cold stone floor he knelt and re-opened the chest. His face lit up with the dual pleasure of illicit behavior and the spoils to follow. A leather gloved hand reached into the chest as he rummaged quietly though the golden coins and stringed beads… what he brought forth was covered in faded stained fabric of dark red. “Yes… finally.” He whispered.

With a swirl of blue flames and smoke and what sounded like children laughing the demi-god Evander disappeared from his bed reappearing (in the same castle as Auto and Discord) in the courtyard in the same Manner, though invisible to mortal eyes. A sling and dagger strapped to his belt as he moved around the castle giggling softly. Pulling his sling and a marble from a pouch also tied to his belt he began to twirl the sling aiming for one of the rather bored looking guards nearing falling asleep at his post. Releasing the sling he watched with barely concealed glee as the marble flew invisible to mortal eyes through the air and hit his target. Upon impact there was a puff of white smoke once it cleared Evander began laughing loudly as the guard now dog began barking loudly still dressed in his uniform, his partner looking around with fear in his eyes before calling out the alarm. Evander, still laughing, ran into the palace tripping guards and running servants here and there, his innocent laughter filling the halls of the palace, even as the alarm was raised.

It had been too long since she had left the Underworld. The world was still old by standards, but not as old as the last time she ventured and certainly not as old as she, Hecate, Goddess of death and many other things.
Her hair fell only to her shoulders in waves of blood red, her eyes soft and yet vivid like the purest of jade stones. Death was beautiful, even breathtaking. She rather disliked the common idols made of her with the three heads, but then silly mortals had to have their strange ways now didn't they. Clad in flowing black, the pale woman moved around looking at the world as she had been for days now. Hades had ordered her to go out, and thus she did the whole time cursing the God for being her superior. However perhaps one day she would advance him, maybe… one day.
She had been to the ancient mysterious isle of Japan, its cousin China and even up in the colder lands far above China. The world seemed full of wars, for this she of course blamed Ares and Discord… however it gave her purpose to be around a lot more. Death was evident everywhere she went now and so she had souls to lead to their final place of rest. Another misconception about her seemed to be that she only appeared when death was soon to occur, but quite frankly she could appear anytime she chose too. Sure it was mostly when a person was giving their last breaths, or when a battlefield lay bathed in blood, but at the moment no signs of death were evident and thus the quiet Goddess was content with roaming.
Strapped always at her side was a long sword with a black ornate handle, the Sword of Death, her weapon and sometimes used to put a sufferer out their misery. Behind her wandered two large dogs, their breed unknown, but closely resembling a cross between Mastiffs and Dobermans. Their coats of black silk, but they like so many of her other hordes looking like dead warmed over.
A hooted call reached her ears and in a graceful movement her pale arm raised soon appearing on it an owl its feathers a mixture of gray and black, "What do you bring to me my messenger?" Silent communicate thus preceded and Death's bow slowly raised, "Hmm… Well isn't that interesting." Closing her eyes, Hecate and her companions dematerialized.#nosmileys#nosmileys

“Heh, heh, heh….” The thief brought his trinket closer his gloved fingers wrap the treasure inside. Autolycus' eyes gleam like beads of onyx, as the faded platinum triangle catches the moonlight. “…I amaze even myself sometimes…” he whispered, as he turned the piece over and over studying it. Just as he was delving back into the chest to get some bonus pay, he heard the shouts of men, the barks of dogs and the ringing of the great bell. Somehow, he’d been found out! At once he was on his feet, the piece of metal tucked into his shirt for safekeeping.
“See, this is why I won’t do two shows a night…” Pivoting Autolycus spun to the window and his rope. What devilry was this?! The rope was cut! He pondered simply jumping to freedom until… “Wot?! Who goes there?” the door burst inward and a trio of guards and dogs spilled into the treasure room. “Uhh... no need to worry fellas I’m just with the cleanup staff…” ‘Yeah, I’ll bet…” sneered the smartest looking of the bunch. “Aww so we have a tough guy in the crowd?” Auto jeered.

Skipping through the palace Evander grinned as he saw a group of guards and some dogs. another flash of blue flames and the sounds of children’s laughter and Evander was now visible to mortal eyes, tiptoeing up behind them he grinned at one of the dogs as he pulled out another marble from his pouch tossing it down between the three dogs he started laughing even before the smoke had cleared leaving puppies in the dogs places before flashing back into the plane of invisibility. Giggling as the guards looked about ready to faint. Snickering softly the young mischief maker pulled two more marbles from the pouch and threw them in quick succession at the two guards in the rear. As the smoke cleared Evander almost fell down laughing, tears in his eyes as he saw the two new chickens in guard uniform.

The goddess slowly rematerialized within the castle walls where Evander was playing havoc and running pure muck. No one else seemed to look after the trying little demi-god and thus it left her to do the job on occasion. She was not fond of the little terror in the least as he had proved on more than one occasion to be a thorn in her side, if not more at times.
Now the question remained, where exactly was the brat traipsing? With a wave of her hand her hell hounds, Pain and Agony appeared and looked to their master, "Find the little beast. Bring him to me." With their orders given, Pain and Agony de materialized once more from her view as they went off in search of Evander.
This left Hecate to roam freely by herself, curious as to the reason why the authority challenged child was in the place anyhow. He did not do this kind of thing without a reason, was there something here he wanted? Or something here he wished to prevent or take or do some sort of mischief to or with. Obviously something along those lines being that was his usual tactics.
The sounds of bells and voices annoyed her ears greatly as she preferred silence to most sounds. It was obvious more was going on here than met the eye, and quickly the pale Goddess became curious as to what it was. Making her way towards a bevy of voices, the goddess unseen until she chose to be approached an open door and peered within, her light green gaze taking in the situation. Something was not right here and then she beheld was not right and chose to be seen.
" There you are you trouble maker." She eyed Evander, eyes flashing a moment in warning as her two pets appeared on either side of her, and with a pale hand she gave each a pat on the head and resumed her very death like stare at the youngster, "Turn the men back." Her eyes glanced towards another man near the window she had not noticed until now and arched a brow, "You shouldn't steal things you have no business having." She knew he had something powerful, she could feel it and mortals just had no business with powerful objects, for according to history they almost always ended up messing everything up, foolish mortals indeed.#nosmileys

Autolycus drew his sword, his eyes narrowing. “Come get some…” he taunted. The first dog howled and nipped at the raven-haired rogue’s backside, but skillfully and with some regret Auto thrust the hilt of his sword down upon the beast’s thick skull sending him off whimpering. In the same motion his sword thrust skyward toward the oncoming blade of the lead guard. The parrying broke into full dance, Auto blocking or attacking. His orbs of midnight pitch glimered as he almost enjoyed this as much as the theft.
He was grinning, keeping the guards and the dogs at bay… until ~poof poof poof~ the dogs changed into whimpering puppies, ~poof poof poof~ the guards transformed into chickens?! Auto stumbled back a few, dragging his sword against the stone steps to where the treasure sat. He sat sprawled looking from the chickens to the puppies until his attention caught the child-like-god as he appeared adjacent him reeling with laughter. “What in the name of Tartarus…” his eyes rolled as he pushed up from the ground, “…did the wet nurse on Olympus go for a coffee break?”
He rolled back on his heels glad he’d managed an egotistical sidestep to hide that he was a bit taken aback at the sight of a child-god. “There you are you troublemaker…” he heard the scorned woman. “Great… I was wondering when this little guy’s mother was gonna show up… Do you Gods have like leashes you can put on em when their still learning their powers?” He regretted the words at once, knowing that a vengeful God or Goddess would turn him into a pillar of salt for a comment half as sarcastic… He held his hands up defensively, “Kidding, kidding!”

His laughter soon stopped and turned into a child’s glare as he looked to Auto “I am not baby!!!” he shouted snickering slightly as the chickens jumped he reached towards the marble pouch at his side, before jumping and turning to see his elder ‘aunt’ glaring once more in his child-like way, the glare turning into a pout at her words as he put his hands on his hips shaking his head stubbornly “You didn’t say the magic word!!!” he chirruped out gleefully as a smile once more spread upon his small face, eyes sparkling like sapphires as he turned as if to run.

Her long arms slowly folded, a brow arched in un-amusement towards the scene before her in whole. Stealing was something she as a noble Goddess looked down on, which was much of the reason she did not care much for the pest who was wreaking all kinds of havoc all of the time, stealing being an avid part of it. Such a troublesome child Evander is.
Beside her Pain and Agony were growing restless as they often did when visible to mortals, it seemed to make them nervous. Gently their mistress pet them atop their heads to keep them at ease, they were normally good hounds, but at times stubborn none the less and like Hecate they weren't to fond of Evander, for the child had pulled their tails too often.
Her light jade stare moved from Evander to the Thief and back again, she held little trust for either of them. Her stare returned to the Thief and rolled at his comment, " If I was his mother he would have been bound some where highly unpleasant a long time ago." Her very animated stare narrowed, " And consider yourself lucky I don't do just that to you." She was both amused and insulted at the fact someone though she had given this problem child life.
Her eyes redirected back to Evander with a slow shake of her head, "You really need to be taught the values of respect towards your elders." Her voice was deep, melodic and mysterious just as the voice of Death herself should be. "Fine, please turn the men back." Nodding to her hounds, the two large and ghastly creatures blocked the doorway to keep the child god from running as he seemed to be thinking about doing just that, "Change the dogs back as well." She then added, "Please." Her tone greatly annoyed by having to give the small rather spoiled brat what he wanted in order to get some peace and normality.#nosmileys

He pouted once more as the hell-hounds blocked the door; though he smiled and nodded pulling a larger marble from his pouch he tossed it into the middle of the group of animals, also tossing one at the thief to hide him temporarily from mortal eyes. Snickering softly as the guards and dogs returned to normal in a cloud of black smoke though some feathers remained on the guards, and the dogs still seemed rather playfully, only temporary effects lasting only about an hour for the dogs and until the feathers were either pulled out or fell out for the guards. Sapphire eyes turned innocently back to Hecate “Happy now?” he asked preparing to flash out, before his attention was turned back to the mischievous thief “You should give that to me...I’ll hide it for you.” he said innocently, plotting on feeding it to Atlas or Echidna since his Aunt Discord seemed to want it so bad.

Autolycus sidestepped in the direction of the door, his strides nimble and light, even for a man of his profession. “Well it’s been swell hanging with you… but the swellings gone down…” His grinning head turned to the exit only to come face to face with the snarling face of one of the twin hounds of hell. It was frothing and growling its jowls inches from the mustached burglar. The grin faded quickly into a slack jawed O of surprise. “Big puppy…” He gasped backing a few steps. With his gloved hands held up to protect himself in case the dog decided to rip out his throat he continued to joke to ease the tension, “You know… gingivitis is the number one cause of tooth decay…”
He was nearing the window, keeping his hands up, his sword now sheathed. “Give you what? Oh this?’ he said holding up his belt pouch and the few coins and gems that were inside. “Oh this is just my… beard trimmer… You don’t want to take that from a lowly man like me do you?” he spread his arms wide. Then his eyes widened as he tripped on the lip of the windowsill and fell backward and out! “Woahhhhhhh! He shouted as his arms pin wheeled wildly and boots kicked at air.
Whether it was sheer dumb luck or the pity of the fates, he managed to land smack dab in the middle of a hay cart that was passing by. “Pft!” he spat out a mouthful of straw. Patting himself all over he realized he wasn’t dead and his grin widened. Arms folded behind his head as the cart continued to roll down the road, the driver unaware of the passenger.

She had not forgotten about the Thief or the powerful object he had within his possession, which he was not meant to be having really. Neither were these other fools; Mortals. Mentally the regal Goddess slowly shook her head at their lot, so foolish, so power hungry. Of course these plus more were the reasons why most Gods and Goddesses were born as such and not made, well there had been a few expectations but only because some of her fellow immortal beings couldn't go without whoring themselves with mortals they found alluring. She was never really attracted to mortal beings, let alone anyone else. She was content within her loneliness with her pets.
Slowly the Dark Goddess arched a brow and nodded, "Yes." Her tone holding a small hint of sarcasm. Her form continued however to remain visible to mortal eye as she watched the Demi-God become invisible and then move close to the mortal Thief asking him to let him hold the object he had stolen, " I wouldn't if I was you. In fact you should give it to me or put it back where you found it." Of course she knew he would probably give Evander, but then she watched rather surprised the Thief did not do as most mortals would and do something stupid.
“Yes, big and mean." The Goddess remarked amused by his efforts to try and bypass her pets. She watched with added amusement as he stumbled backwards, his sword drawn, and her own ready to be unsheathed at a moment's notice as well. And quietly she laughed, which came out as more of a snicker as he fell backwards from the window. In a gliding fashion, Hecate approached the window resting a slender white hand on the sill and watched as he landed safely in the back of a wagon unknowingly to its driver.
“You evaded death this time. Next time you might not be so lucky." Her words carried on a soft breeze as a whisper. Turning from the window, the Goddess moved over to the chests and spied the opened one and looked for what might be missing. It was something of value besides of power. With an arched brow she turned to look at Evander, “What did he take? I know you know." Her porcelain arms folded, her light gaze staring down at the mini God.#nosmileys

Giggling softly Evander watched as the guards glared at the thief then looked at Hecate and nearly soiled themselves, his giggles turning into full blown laughs as he continued to watch the thief Discord tricked, his laughs abruptly cutting off as he glared thoughtfully. Discord wasn’t supposed to trick people, he was! Turning his short attention span back to the thief he started laughing once more, rolling on the ground as Auto fell out of the window, tears of mirth streaming down his cheeks. Though he calmed down, gulping slightly as he looked to one of his sterner aunts with a winning smile “Well Aunty... great a thing that he has stole, counterpart a shaft of gold, third and last a jewel of red, with them makes the Goddess dead... Piece that he has parted with, the arrow point and first on the list...” he sang teasingly, before a spark of blue flames and the sounds of laughter announced his departure as he flashed out. With another flash he landed in the cart with Auto glaring slightly while rolling one of his marbles in his hand “Give me the Rogue’s Triptych and I will reward you handsomely....” he said smiling brightly a twinkle in his eye even as he brushed hay from his leather clad shoulder. “I can give you riches beyond your dreams, I’ll give you five of my marbles if you want instead...” he said smoothly, glancing around quickly for Hecate’s minions. ‘I need that stupid spear head so I can hide it...’ he thought to himself as he brought his attention back onto the thief.
